ABRASTA – Brazilian Thalassemia Association, member of the Thalassemia International Federation, is a non-governmental organization founded in 1982 with the mission to provide support and mobilize partners for all patients with thalassemia in Brazil to gain access to the best possible treatment.
Endorsed and guided by a scientific committee composed of national and international specialists, ABRASTA acts to offer the thalassemia patients quick and easy access within the first months of life to the best possible treatment, increasing the odds of better quality of life for patients and their families.
In pursuit of this mission, the association invests in programs that raise awareness of the disease, along with programs that provide psychological and legal support to those diagnosed with the condition. ABRASTA offers a consistent schedule of events and programming updates to doctors in the area.
